YL Winter Conference 2019 - FAQs
When does Conference start and end?
Young Liberals Conference starts at 1pm on Friday 15th February and ends at 4pm on Sunday 17th February 2019.
How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
You can contact the organiser via email (email@example.com).
Why is Conference in Glasgow?
We move our conferences around the country and try to ensure we do not heavily favour one area over another. This will be the first time YL Conference has been in Scotland for many years.
Do you want Winter Conference and Activate to come to your area? Send a proposal with estimated costings over to firstname.lastname@example.org - if you are able to get venues for free or at discounted rates your proposal will be much more attractive!
Is the venue accessible?
Please email email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any accessibility requirements! The James Watt Lecture Theatre is a lecture theatre for 150 people. An accessibility guide is available here, containing all information about ramps, hearing loops, level changes, and more.
How can I submit policy and constitutional amendments to Young Liberals Conference?
Any Young Liberals member can submit a motion to Young Liberals conference. We can then debate it, and if it's passed, we'll keep pushing it until it becomes Lib Dem policy, then push it even harder until it becomes law.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Over 18s must bring some ID to attend conference. Under 18s must send written permission from their parents or guardians via email to email@example.com or they will not be permitted to attend conference or stay in accommodation. Attendees under 16 must come with a legal guardian (guardians do not need to buy tickets, however, cannot vote). Any attendees under the age of 18 caught drinking, or anyone caught supplying alcohol to attendees will be asked to leave conference and banned from subsequent Young Liberals Events.
Where is the Under-18 Accommodation?
This year Young Liberals have made the decision not to offer accommodation to members under the age of 18. We apologise for the inconvenience, however, Young Liberals are not sufficiently trained to adequately safeguard for such members. Acting on the Pasaram Report, such training could be in place for future Young Liberals Conferences, however not for current conferences. Members are free to stay in private accommodation in the city.
What's the accommodation like?
Members will be staying in dorms of between four and eight people in a youth hostel. There is also the opportunity to book double and twin rooms for a slightly higher cost - please see the tickets page for more information.
Is there anything to do in the evenings?
There will be plenty of social events in the evening - keep an eye on the agenda for more information!
Where can I find the Agenda?
The Agenda can be found here, and is subject to revision at short notice.
