Bio:

Hi, I’m James and I’m Co-Chair of the English Young Liberals. I first joined the party in 2019 and first got involved through the University of Birmingham Young Liberals (UBLD) before becoming the regional YL chair for Western Counties. I’m proud to have campaigned in both the North Shropshire and Tiverton and Honiton by-elections and have also written and amended a number of policies passed by Federal Young Liberals conference. Outside of Young Liberals I am also part of my local party executive in the Forest of Dean and on the regional executive for the Western Counties. Day to day, I am a chemistry teacher and general sci-fi obsessive with a love of other languages (especially German and Welsh). My co-chair, Joe and I have split the roll such that I take the lead on anything involving the EYL constitution, administration, branch/regional development and internal communications.

Executive Duties:

  1. Responsible for setting the overall direction of the organisation in line with policy determined at General Meetings;
  2. The primary spokesperson for the English Young Liberals;
  3. The primary representative of members of the English Young Liberals to the Party and to external organisations;
  4. The primary representative of members of the English Young Liberals to the English Council, the English Council Executive, and other relevant bodies.
  5. Responsible for co-ordinating, overseeing, and ensuring that the roles and activities of the rest of the Executive are appropriately carried out;
  6. Responsible for chairing General Meetings, and meetings of the Executive;
  7. The representative from the English State Organisation to the Executive of Young Liberals, per the Young Liberals Constitution.
