Ben was first elected to the Young Liberals executive in 2017 and was re-elected in 2018. Originally from Yeovil in the South West of England, he first joined the Liberal Democrats in 2012 and has campaigned for the party in local, devolved, national and European elections.
As International Officer Ben is responsible for representing Young Liberals to our sister parties and our international affiliates: European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) and International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY). He first began representing Young Liberals abroad in 2015; when he was a delegate to LYMEC’s Autumn Congress. In the summer of 2018 it was announced that Young Liberals will be hosting LYMEC’s 2019 Autumn Congress as a sign of unity and solidarity between young liberals in the UK and across Europe.
Ben is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Aberdeen, his thesis focuses on the nature of supranationalism. You can read more about his research here.
