New Executive for 2018!

It’s been a busy time here at Young Liberals, elections, Autumn Conference, and the buzz from the last election. In the meantime we have some important updates and some exciting new projects coming up.

First off, we have a new Federal Executive! During October, elections were held to decide who will be on the executive and committees, which are responsible for the daily running of the bodies which make up the Young Liberals. The quality of the campaigns has been fantastic, so, congratulations to all those who stood. From all of us at Young Liberals, we give a huge thank you to our returning officer, Neil Fawcett who tirelessly volunteered his time and energy to the running of the elections. We would also like to thank the previous federal executive and committee members. Due to their commitment and hard work the Young Liberals have never been stronger or better equipped to fight for our Liberal values. They have set us on course for great things, the new executive has an exciting year ahead. You can meet the New Exec here.

Our Membership Development Officer, Nate Isaacson has created a new Official Membership Hub page on Facebook. If you are a member of Young Liberals and the Liberal Democrats you can join this group. The Hub will make ‘communication between the Young Liberals Executive, and the membership of Young Liberals easier. It is a space for important information regarding our activities. It's also a great place to get to know other Young Liberals. Members can contribute to the group by sharing local Lib Dem events, joining in on the threads, or choosing how to get involved with Young Liberals deeper.’  The group can be accessed here.

Finally, Young Liberals have three very exciting pieces of news about conferences. At Scottish Conference, Young Liberals Conference successfully passed three motions, including Lib Dem Newbie Jess Insall’s motion on schools allowing gender-neutral uniforms, which was picked up by several notable media outlets including the BBC and 'i' newspaper. Jess made a fantastic speech, that gained praise from across the party. Secondly, the dates and city for Young Liberals Winter conference have been announced, so save a date in your diary for 16th-18th February, in Oxford. The specific venue and dates are to be confirmed. Finally, Young Liberals will be hosting a fringe at Federal Spring Conference 2018! After our very successful fringe at Autumn Federal 2017, which included Vince Cable, Jo Swinson, and Layla Moran as our speakers, we are determined to make the upcoming one just as great.
