Bio: 

Brandon joined the Lib Dems during Covid in 2020, and currently works in Research and Development as a physicist. He studied physics at University of York, where he supported the Lib Dems, both as treasurer of the York Lib Dems society and as a campaigner and candidate in the 2023 local elections. He has served two terms on YL’s policy committee prior to his election as Policy Officer, and serves concurrently as South Central YL Chair.

Brandon has campaigned in York, Birmingham and Warwickshire before he moved to Reading, and has campaigned across Berkshire and hopes to help grow the Reading Lib Dem Councillor group in the coming years. Outside of politics, he is an Aston Villa fan, a big science fiction fan and into gaming, so feel free to have a chat about any of these topics!

Executive Duties:

  1. Attend meetings of the Federal Policy Committee as the representative of the Young Liberals;
  2. Coordinate and support the Policy Committee in carrying out its dutie specified in the Constitution, including submitting policy motions to Liberal Democrat conferences;
  3. Maintain the Policy Book, a central record of policies adopted by the Young Liberals according to provisions in the Constitution;
  4. Answer Executive or members’ queries relating to Young Liberals policy, for example ensuring that Young Liberals campaigns are accordance with policy;
  5. Support members with submitting policy motions to Young Liberals for Liberal Democrat conference(s), including help with drafting and advice on content; and
  6. Plan and deliver training sessions to support our members to develop and make policy
