Accessibility, Diversity and Inclusion Officer
The Accessibility, Diversity and Inclusion Officer does many tasks, including:
- Organising meetings of the Diversity Committee.
- Working with the Events Committee to ensure that Young Liberals events are accessible and inclusive.
- Working with Associated Organisations such as Liberal Democrat Women (LDW), Liberal Democrat Campaign for Race Equality (LDCRE), Liberal Democrat Disability Association (LDDA), and LGBT+ Liberal Democrats. This includes coordinating with them where there are issues on which we want to put pressure on the wider party.
- Working with the Communications Officer to organise communications around events such as Black History Month, International Women’s Day and Pride.
- Working with the Communications Officer on YL responses to major political developments relating to accessibility, diversity, inclusion and equalities.
- Representing accessibility, diversity and inclusion considerations across the work of the Young Liberals.
The Diversity Committee is there to support you in this work, particularly by providing different perspectives on accessibility and equalities issues and helping to identify areas where YL could do more.
A significant part of the role involves working with other officers and organisations rather than doing everything yourself. For example, event accessibility should be worked on alongside the Events Committee, while public communications should normally be coordinated with the Communications Officer.
