Special Conference 2025
What is a Special Conference?
The Executive can be asked by a number of members or by YL Conference to hold an extra conference to discuss specific matters.
At Summer Conference 2025, members voted to hold a special conference to discuss:
- Endorsing a candidate for Party President
- Endorsing a candidate for Vice-President with responsibility for working with ethnic minority communities
- Approving any members of the YL Executive seeking the organisation’s endorsement for election to a Lib Dem federal committee
- Approving any other members of the Party seeking the organisation’s endorsement that the Executive have referred to Special Conference
Items for debate
The Special Conference will be asked to consider the following endorsements for people standing for Federal Committees:
Federal Board
- Prue Bray
Federal Council
- Josh Lucas Mitte
- Ulysse Abbate
Federal Conference Committee
- Lucas North
Federal Policy Committee
- Ulysse Abbate
- Rebecca Jones
Federal International Relations Committee
- Rowan Fitton
The Special Conference will also be asked to consider the following two questions:
Should the Young Liberals endorse a candidate for the role of Vice President responsible for working with ethnic minority communities, and if so, which candidate?
Should the Young Liberals endorse a candidate for the role of President, and if so, which candidate?
Members who wish to speak in the debate about endorsing a candidate for the roles of President and Vice President, or who wish to speak for or against endorsing a specified individual, above, running for election to a Federal Committee, should fill in this form no later than 6pm on Tuesday 21st October.
